About us

and our products

Butler’s Buddy Inc. is now a woman owned small business that was originally established in 1999 and has currently shipped over 3,000 dumbwaiters nationwide. Our mission is to provide a quality and cost-effective dumbwaiter to help make businesses and homeowners’ daily lives easier. Here at Butler’s Buddy, Inc. we discovered a need to manufacture a complete line of dumbwaiters & mezzanine lifts for transporting items from one floor to another, whether it’s groceries in a residential setting, food at a restaurant, or equipment at an industrial facility. We found that not only do our electric dumbwaiters save time, they also add value to your home. We carry fifteen standard systems specifically designed for restaurants, residential, commercial, and industrial applications. In addition to our standard sizes, we also provide many custom dumbwaiters to meet unique requirements. We also specialize in building modern replacements for old manual dumbwaiters.

The company was established by Frederick K. Broyan. Fred, what he preferred to be called, graduated from Milton Hershey High School in 1964. He then continued his education at Wyoming Valley Technical Institute and graduated in engineering. After college, he used his degree at a few major companies around the area. Until he decided to start his own business in 1984 called Northeast Design and Systems Co. At this company, customers would come to him with difficult projects or ideas that they had, that he would find solutions to. While running this business a client of his requested that he build him a dumbwaiter. He was so happy with the design that he decided to start Butler’s Buddy, Inc. As the business continued to grow, he hired his daughter, Christine, to help run the business. Fred proudly ran Butler’s Buddy until he passed away at the end of 2013. Christine and her husband continue to run the family business to this day.

Our Best Features

  • The Latest Technology

Butler’s Buddy utilizes the latest technology in urethane tooth belts with a breaking strength up to 3,645 lbs. These belts consume less energy while providing reduced vibration, which allows us to use a smaller motor to move more weight than our competitors. They also do not require lubrication, are quiet, and have a long service life since there is no direct metal to metal contact. Inside these durable belts are multiple stainless cords so the belt keeps its shape and does not stretch over time.

  • Simplistic Design

The installation is straightforward, the upper and lower frame assemblies are bolted in place. The left-side track is installed, container is inserted, then the right-side track. The belt is attached, and then the wiring harness is connected. The shaft way doors are typically installed after the front walls are built.

To save time we complete as much as possible on each unit prior to shipping out. At our facility both frame assemblies are fully aligned and assembled. The track is predrilled & pre-aligned for smooth operation. All hardware on the lift container is already installed. Our belt is cut to length based on the height requirements. All wiring harnesses are clearly labeled and utilize slide on crimp connectors, and the doors come with the safety switches already mounted.

  • Manuals and drawings

All systems come with a detailed installation manual specific to your installation. We provide architects, contractors, engineers, and homeowners with drawings and quotations and also help you with completing forms and provide information for permit applications and other code-related requirements.

  • User Friendly

Our customers love our simple and highly visible push button design. All lift containers come with easy-to-use doors and all stop heights are adjustable making loading and unloading as easy as possible.

What our clients say

Testimonials

Having a dumbwaiter in our 4 level home in Newport Beach CA was very helpful for moving laundry, food, and misc items between floors. Most important about owning a Butler's Buddy dumbwaiter is the service they offer. When we needed to make a repair even though they are not located in the same state they immediately came up with solutions to help us with our repairs locally. Christine was quick to respond and their technician Tyler made himself available to talk to our electrician during the repair process. Tyler also worked over a weekend to FedEx us the parts we needed. Great product and even better...AMAZING customer service.

My name is Robert and as the owner/operator of RP construction I am familiar with the quality of the Butler's Buddy system. The Freeland VFW has an approximately 16-year-old system. When minor problems with the control board recently arose I contacted Tyler who was prompt in responding and with his assistance the system was up and running again in no time. The quality of the product and the customer service was evident from this encounter. For this reason, I highly recommend Butler's Buddy Inc.
